Situated in Dev Bhoomi (land of gods) Uttarakhand, Dayara Bugyal is one of the most pretty yet diverse treks of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand has no shortage of beautiful treks and mountains. It has an elevation of 3750 meters and has such gorgeous sceneries and panoramic views. the name itself has beauty in it as Dayara means boundary and Bugyal means meadows which clearly indicates that the trail is surrounded by the meadows leaving the trekker mesmerized by its beauty. Also, it has a lake near its trail called Barnala Tal lake, which is actually like a cherry on the top of an already lovely cake.

Wondering why I have mentioned it as “an already lovely cake”?

By an already lovely cake, I meant to say that Dayara Bugyal has anything and everything that a trekker would ever require and because of the lake Barnala it becomes much more than just a leisure trek. It starts from Barsu in Uttarkashi which is almost 150 km from the capital Dehradun and ends at Raithal. Being close to the capital of the state makes it commutable by all 3 means of transport i.e. airways, bus services and the railways. It has a trekking distance of 15 km only and comes in an easy category on the difficulty scale with the score of 1 unit only, which means it can be done by beginners too!!

Thinking of 15 km in 4 days is just a "wow"!!

Being famous for its alpine meadows and not so touristy trekking destination in such a heavenly place like Uttarakhand it is considered to be a perfect destination for a short escape in a long weekend. All you need to know is that it is possible and can be done and there you go, also you might get a chance to wildlife like brown Himalayan bears, Tibetan and Himalayan wolves, vultures and owls. Domestic animals like cattle and sheep will surely be found grazing on the grasslands.

This is not it, yet!!

It is so diverse that you can actually experience the Himalayan culture while trekking and on the other hand you can get lost in the never-ending woods. POINT TO BE NOTED

It also gives you a glimpse of the Gangotri peak once you reach an appropriate elevation, which is so gorgeous that it will force you to give a thought of trekking the Gangotri peak too. Gangotri peak has been in the bucket list of many seasoned trekkers, once you get the taste of trekking you might end up planning for another one too.

Dayara Bugyal is one of those treks where you can create lots of memories without worrying about the distance and time as it is a short trek it will let you relax and continue again as long as you want to sit and click.

It is functional 12 months a year so,

  • If you’re a fan of snowfall and wish to play with the snowflakes and want to experience shimmering snowfall then this is the trek for you.
  • But, if you’re not a fan of snowfall and wish to get lost in nature’s beauty then this is ALSO the trek for you!!

Which means it is an easy all-season trek and can be DONE IN ANY SEASON AND BY ANYONE. Most of the adventure enthusiasts who are looking for an easy trek to start their trekking journey usually opt for a pocket-friendly and not so tiring trek, while Dayara Bugyal is just the right option for this as it offers anything and everything to anyone and everyone. While trekking you will be surrounded by forests of pines, oaks, maple and rhododendrons. Dayara Bugyal is an all-season trek in which you can witness yellow and white flowers around the trail in summers, then these flowers turn golden in the autumn season and furthermore they will be decorated with snow in winters. Seems like it welcomes you with open arms all the time and that too with a lavish carpet. The beauty of this trek is not so known by most of the people and hence is away from the human interference, therefore looks very refreshing and untouched to trek with family and with friends. This will surely fuel up your wanderlust. A wise man once said that “it is always better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times”, so this trek is a must-visit for all.

If you are very fond of snow then you may visit in the December to March slot where you can experience the temperature drop up to -5degree Celsius in the night and in summers it has a temperature ranging from 10 to 20 degrees. Woah!! It is as exciting as it sounds, children up to the age of 10 can also start their trekking journey with this trek.
