Known as an ‘eco-village’, Jaubhari is known to be one of the prettiest Himalayan mountain villages in the country. The nearest major city to Jaubhari is Siliguri, which is 102 kms away.
Siliguri can be reached by:
1) Flight
The nearest airport to Siliguri is Bagdogra Airport which is at a distance of 15 kms from the city. Direct flights to Bagdogra are available from Kolkata on a regular basis and connecting flights are available from all other major cities. Alternatively, one can also fly into Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata and take an onwards train/bus to Siliguri. Kolkata Airport is well connected with direct flights from all major cities in the country. Regular trains and buses ply from Kolkata to Siliguri, which is an overnight journey.
2) Bus from Kolkata
Both government and private buses ply on a regular basis from Kolkata to Siliguri. The distance between Kolkata and Siliguri is 600 kms and is covered overnight in 12-13 hours. The cost of the bust ticket ranges between Rs.500-1500 depending on the choice of bus.
3) Train from Kolkata
Trains such as Shatabdi, Saraighat Express and Padatik Express run on a daily basis between Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri (railway station in Siliguri). The journey takes approximately 8-10 hours and the cost of the train ticket ranges between Rs.200-1500 depending on the choice of train and coach preference.
Reaching Jaubhari from Siliguri:
1) One can take a shared taxi from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or from Siliguri Bus Station to Jaubhari. The distance is approximately 100 kms and the journey takes 4-5 hours.
2) Private taxis are available for hire from Siliguri to reach Jaubhari. The taxi fare is upwards of Rs.4000 depending on the type of vehicle being hired.
